The world jerked and jarred, slamming Tania down into a realm of pain and the metallic taste of blood. Turning onto her side, she began coughing copious amounts of the red liquid into the earth, freeing her lungs of the stuff so she could breathe again. She was screaming, but she couldn’t hear herself as her limbs knitted back together. Eventually, the blindness and deafness faded and she saw Thayne’s scarred visage above her as he repeatedly ran one hand from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet, murmuring in the prayer language he used to harness The Creator’s power.
