Something crawls under the floor boards,
It creeps and it scraps and I answer,
Something slithers across the tiles of the roof,
I look to the sky light,
Something grows with the trees in the yard,
I offer it food,
Something calls with the rhythm of the wind,
It screams and it howls, so I teach it to sing,
Something wanders silently in the rain,
It weeps in torrents and it tugs at me,
Something laps quietly at the shadowed edge of the pond,
I avert my eyes and let it drink what is mine,
Something cowers in the shadows of my house,
I hide it from the sun,
