Gydha Eiriksdottir felt quite at home among the deadly intrigues of the court of Noregur. This was because the soul inside of her was not her own; she was an inhuman creature, a Dark Valkyrie in the service of the death-goddess Hel, and it was her mission to bring as many people as possible to dishonorable deaths. Gydha has started countless wars and wrought ruin across much of Noregur before she was married. She foresaw even greater potential for such havoc once she became queen.

     The fact that so many courtiers dismissed her because she was a woman made it even more delicious that she was sowing the seeds of future evil amongst them. She smiled to herself quietly as she plotted; she did not revel in the thought that “someday she would show them!” Nay....
