Mallory

Mallory tried to leave the house without attracting her mother’s attention.  She noticed a note on the bulletin board as she left and realized she needn’t have been so cautious. 

Kids  Gone to work.  I want you both home for dinner at six.  Call me if you need anything.  Love, Mom.

Mallory could easily say she didn’t see the note, if she decided not to show up, but she was touched by her mom’s effort to communicate.  She wasn’t the note-writing type, she usually just yelled instructions as she left the house or had her secretary call home from the hair studio.  She could easily have lectured Mallory before she left, but she had gone quietly, leaving this message.  It was humble of her and Mallory&rs...
