CHAPTER TWO

Leanne

The kitchen was decorated with flower-print wall paper and a collection of antique cookware.  It wasn’t exactly fashionable, but it was home.  Cara wandered into the pleasant aroma of coffee and poured herself a glass of orange juice, all while reading the book her mother had given her. 

Leanne tried not to stare as she watched her daughter’s face for any sign of reaction to the book. 

Cara continued reading as she poured herself cereal, got a spoon and carried everything over to one of the high stools at the counter.  She ate, drank and read. 

Leanne rose to pour herself another cup of coffee and Cara looked up and smiled.
