Lucas glanced at the discarded ice cream cone. “What kind of friend would kiss someone else at a party?” He studied Sybille intently. Her eyes filled at his close inspection.
“I don’t know,” she replied, blinking rapidly as she looked over at the large variety of ice cream flavours offered at the counter.
“I’ve wanted to talk to you about this for a long time. I kept thinking of you when I was stuck in the hospital.” Lucas reached for Sybille’s hand and her icy fingers began to thaw.
“You did?” She could hardly breathe and only a whisper came out.
“I knew pretty quickly that you went to church,” said Lucas, stirring the ice in his lemonade without actually drinking any.&nbs...
