Sybille made herself lunch as quietly as she could, hoping not to run into Kate, but she never came out of her room. To be safe, Sybille took her sandwich and apple outside to eat on their large deck. She told herself to enjoy the sight of the mountains every time her thoughts turned to Kate and Lucas. The memory of finding them came to her at least twice an hour. She assured herself the memories would fade and that they didn’t come to mind as often as they had five days ago.
