CHAPTER NINETEEN

Cara

Cara’s mother poked her head into Cara’s cozy bedroom.

“Just heading to bed, honey.  Did you have a good time tonight?”

“Yeah, thanks Mom.  It was a great party.”

Her mother perched on Cara’s bed and studied the book she was holding.  “You’re getting close to the end now.  You can wake me up anytime, okay?  Promise you’ll come get me the minute you finish so that I won’t have to keep you in suspense any longer.”

“You mean, the book won’t tell me everything?” Cara’s face clouded with disappointment.
