The shelves at Pines and Poles were filled with mountain mementos. Grant waved to Mallory from his office and held up two fingers to say he’d be another two minutes. She browsed the store without really seeing anything, including Adam.
“Well, well. Aren’t you getting familiar around here?” he hissed from a cash register tucked into the back of the store. Mallory jumped at his voice and felt a prickling under her arms. She hadn’t seen Adam since the day after they’d slept together. What must he be thinking of her?
