Sybille

A couple of the waitresses at Betty Boop’s asked Sybille to go out to the bars with them that night.  Sybille said no, like always.  Drinking was bad and now that her relationship with Lucas was so tenuous, she must be even more careful to stay on her parents’ – and God’s – good sides.  She left the restaurant at 8:00 after a nine hour shift.  She was grateful for the coolness of the evening air as she walked home.  Again, she scanned the sidewalks for Lucas.  Instead, she saw couples on every corner, holding hands, hugging and kissing.  She stopped and stared a moment when half of one of the couples appeared to be Lucas.  They stopped kissing a moment and the Lucas look-a-like winked at her.  His girlfriend punched him...
