It was Lucas who broke off their kiss this time. 

“Hey, Sybille.  I had a talk with your dad this afternoon.”

“Really?”  For a moment, Sybille felt a surge of hope that Lucas had asked and secured her father’s permission to marry.  What a relief it would be to have her parents know.

“He said I’m welcomed back into the Hockey Academy.  He was supportive and concerned about my accident.”

Sybille realized this would only be possible if her father didn’t know about their relationship. 

“Oh, that’s great.  Wonderful.”  She fingered the ring on her necklace.
