Mallory

Mallory picked up the mail from the post office on her way back into town.  She would going to start helping her Mom out, she thought as she pulled out the bills and flyers.  Amongst the tedious array, Mallory found a bright pink envelope addressed to her from Theresa.

“Thank God!” she said aloud, then snorted as she noticed a few heads turning her way.  “If only you could come back.”  This time Mallory only talked in her head.  She stuffed the rest of the mail into her car and headed to a bench along the river to read her letter.
