Sybille

Sybille could hardly wait for work to end.  She and Lucas had made plans the night before to walk home together.  He was meeting with her father and she was impatient to hear how it went.  Sybille wore his ring on a chain around her neck tucked into her t-shirt.  She didn’t wear it at home, but if someone at work happened to see it, she could always pretend it was a family ring.  She wore the earrings though.  She could say she bought those herself.

Sybille wanted to tell people about Lucas so badly, but she couldn’t take the chance of her parents or sister finding out.  She had felt giddy all day, and now waves of anticipation were rolling underneath her skin.  Finally, she saw him at their planned meeting spot, beside the teepee....
