Theresa

Camp was an entirely different experience the next day.  For reasons not entirely clear to Theresa, Kirk was now some kind of hero to the other campers.  Theresa sat beside Randi and Kirk for breakfast and they were frequently interrupted by people patting him on the back saying “way to go” and even giving him things.

“Hey, I want you to hold onto my Gretzky card,” one kid said.  “You deserve it.”

Another kid gave Kirk a new Spiderman comic book, a girl gave him a U2 cassette tape and several other people gave him tickets for the tuck shop.

 “What’s going on?” whispered Randi in awe.

Kirk shrugged and Theresa said, “Maybe they want your protection or something?”
