CHAPTER FIVE

Cara

As far as she knew, Cara’s mother had never dated anyone.  She had finally asked about it when a friend’s mother got engaged to their band teacher.  Other parents remarried after divorcing or losing their spouses.  Why not her mother? 

“I’m not looking for anyone else, Cara.  I’ve got you.”

“But I’m not enough, Mom.  One of these days I’m gonna grow up and go to University or something.”

“I know honey.  But I had my chance and I blew it.”

Cara wondered which of the boys in her book had been her mother’s boyfriend.
