Mac worked his way along the flight line, using the noses of waiting aircraft as guides to his destination. His would be the sixth bird up, probably turned parallel to the deck edge, awaiting its turn at the launch circle. Hunched shadows scurried just beyond Mac's ability to make out, reduced to gray blobs by the driving rain. Only when the lightning flashed did a moment of high-contrast clarity assert itself.
