His "date" with Ellen -- he didn't know what to call it -- disappointed Mac. He felt relief that he hadn't been a mouse teased by a hungry cat, but he had built up hopes that the evening leaned toward an intimate conclusion. Ellen hadn't leaned quite as far as him. She left him in the lobby of the hotel, all smiles and warm eyes, but she hadn't even offered a good night kiss.

Oh, well. Mac found solace in the newly learned lesson that sometimes friendliness was just that: friendliness.

Boy, was he becoming all grown up.
