"Thank you," the man said. He clasped his muddy hands at his chin in an attitude of prayer. He'd made a minor speech seconds earlier, but reversed and abbreviated when Mac's lack of Creole became obvious. "Thank you," he said again, then he and his friend, in the company of Stormbreak comfort crew, lurched away toward the infirmary erected off the runway.

"It's all right," Mac called after him. "It's, umm, all part of the service."

Mave laughed and punched him in the arm. "You'll need to work on your catch phrase, young pilot. You won't get groupies...
