Bird had the manual out and was working through the post-flight inspection. In his free hand, he grasped a screwdriver and a pair of pliers strapped handle-to-handle with duct tape. The screwdriver pointed one direction, the pliers the other, which made for an effective multi-tool for opening and closing blackened, burning hot access doors.
