Since my trip to Disney World in 2007, I have not ridden another roller coaster. I have not been to another theme park or carnival or state fair. That’s not to say I would never ride a roller coaster ever again in life; I just haven’t created the opportunity. And I’m okay with that. You see, even with all the adventure and fun that a roller coaster can provide, I still prefer the safety and consistency of being upright and walking in the light with two feet on the ground.
I once had the idea that the Christian life, especially the sanctification part, meant that as I grew to understand the Lord and His principles more, my roller coaster faith life would flatten and straighten little by little until it was relatively smooth.
