“Wonder what the Hell this is?” he said, turning the box over in his hands.
Alice took the package from him and looked at it. Her eyes widened, she brought her palm down to the table with a hard slap, and she stood up. “Damn!” she yelled, taking the box with her. Jack was used to her outbursts, but even he was caught off-guard by this one. “What is it?” he asked. “What’s wrong?“
“I’m telling you, it said guaranteed,” she shouted, her face reddening, “guaranteed not to arrive early. Just shows you.”
“Don’t have a canipchen fit,” he said, trying to calm her down, to little effect. In fact, Alice had already reached the other side of the room and was struggling with the water faucet in the kitchen sink....
