Adam knocked on his parents’ door, restrained but insistent. Since the house managers appeared not to put stock in room locks or bolts, all he had to do when there was no response was push the handle.

What if they were actually having a nap after all? And if they weren’t decent? Older couples who loved each other still had sex and all that, didn’t they?

He could live with such afterimage imprinted in his brain. They’d have to forgive him. He took a deep breath and opened the door.

The room was empty.

Perhaps they were by the pool. Nobody had checked. He was about to go downstairs when he thought better of it and had a peek at Erin’s room.

He saw the undone bed, the pillow dressed with his Apocalyptica t-shirt. He also saw the open, messed up ward...
