The following morning, Erin put on her most comfortable clothes, shoes which she could run in, and her faithful sunglasses. They couldn’t camouflage the nasty rainbow adorning her cheek though.

Breakfast was a freeform operation, so everybody was flocking to the kitchen to prepare their starter of choice. Adam offered Erin a chair.

‘Chlorine?’ he whispered.

‘Lots.’

He kissed her good cheek. ‘Let me make you something against that,’ he said, and went to search the fridge. David placed a cup of coffee in front of her and sat down.

‘What would you like with this?’ he said.

‘Thanks. Adam’s taking care of that.’
