He wanted to hold her and tell her everything would be all right, but it didn’t strike him as the right thing to do at the moment.

‘You haven’t overreacted at anything. What you did is called defending yourself, and you did a hell of a good job. Hey, you probably saved both our lives. Which reminds me I still haven’t thanked you properly for that.’ He searched for the right words. ‘Thank you.’
