Although the cold tap water at the ladies’ was tepid, it was still refreshing enough to Erin’s face. She was feeling drained again. It was not just the poor sleep or the sense of being jostled about by circumstances, but a weariness that came from inside, from having to deal with too many emotions at once. She needed some space to breathe freely for a while.

She would have gladly got lost in the village for a while. However, all the remaining guests had been warned to stay in the hotel until their transportation arrived. The pool would have to do instead.
