Erin moved out of the way to let David look inside.

It had been thoroughly ransacked.

The bed was undone, which wouldn’t have been too much of an issue. It was the rest of the room that was unsettling. All the drawers were upside down on the floor, their contents spread around them. The suitcase had been taken out of the wardrobe as well as Erin’s clothes, a spare blanket, and the high heels she kept at the bottom. The suitcase had been emptied too, all its pockets left unzipped and, as David could observe when he was closer, the bottom slashed open. He checked the bathroom.
