Erin glanced at her notes while sipping a little more of the lemon slush in which she was trying to drown her irritation. They had carefully inspected the house twice, searching for clues to tell them where the missing couple could have fled and what their next action ought to be. He had found a pad of sticky notes and, after unsuccessfully testing with a pencil for signs of anything written on top of the first page, had given her half of it to write down anything that might have struck her as out of place. Now they were sitting in the living room, finishing the meal they had bought from a nearby bar, studying the situation.
