In my twenties, I could not be considered “career-oriented.” I had jobs, and this was fine with me. I worked at a law firm for a time in a position that was never designed to grow into anything more. I didn’t care. I went to work, I did my job, I got paid, I went home, and I didn't think about it again.
Eventually, the monotony of my position began driving me insane, so, I went to graduate school for teaching. I finished graduate school, took a position teaching First Grade. I liked teaching First Grade, but still, it wasn't a passion. My co-teachers would stay until 7 at night, cutting and laminating and lesson planning. Then, they would go home and do more of the same. I left by 3:30, at the latest each day, and did not look back.
