My mind is starting to still. I know enough to know what my job is. Nothing else matters much right now. Starting tomorrow—or, well, now, according to Magno—Teruya and I will be on call in case the kaiju appear. No use trying to break through to them before that; Teruya told me he's made attempts and failed. The children aren’t even technically alive yet, so we’ll just have to wait until they hatch, which could happen tomorrow or a week from now, but probably sooner rather than later.
