Jo pulled the covers tight around her shoulders and burrowed into the pillow, willing herself to sleep. She was so tired. The day had left her emotionally drained and wanting to just drift away where she couldn’t think anymore. Tomorrow would be a new day with a fresh start. If she could just hurry it along, she thought to herself, she’d feel better.

But for tonight, ‘better’ seemed very far away.

What was wrong with her? It seemed that no one wanted her. Was it too much to ask to be someone’s favorite person? Most of her life she had felt expendable, nothing more than a means to an end. The friend who took care of everyone else, helping them find love - but never finding it for herself.

Why wasn’t she a priority to someone?
