Jo paced in front of the mansion, hands on her hips, frowning.
This was a development she hadn’t exactly planned for. Yes, she had felt presences in the old houses she lovingly restored. They were playful and occasionally annoying, but none of them had ever shown themselves to her.
And none had ever tried to hurt her.
Damn it, this was her home! She wasn’t leaving and it was going to take a hell of a lot more than a couple parlor tricks to make her even consider it. But she also couldn’t live in chaos with an underlying thread of fear. She would have to find a way to co-exist peacefully. That might take some doing, starting with figuring what - or who - she was dealing with.
