Faye could only stare at Deb as she took in what the other woman had just said. People had burned at the stake in Kirkwood, victims of unjustified religious persecution.
Could her dreams and visions have something to do with that? She had grown up in Kirkwood and was besieged by visions of a woman burning at the stake, a woman always asking her to save her daughter.
Perhaps as a child she had heard of it and it became stuck in her subconscious, becoming a fixation on its own. But all her life? There had to be more to all of this.
