“She’s on Mars?” Sera felt sick to her stomach. Sabian shot up, walked around the groundcar to where they were standing.

So,” Adanna said, “Elysse and many Trillium soldiers left this morning.”

Emotion overwhelmed her. She needed to sit down. 

Now. 

Sera fumbled blindly for something to grab hold of, found the groundcar with her hand and slid down its smooth surface. She squatted on the ground, back against the car, head between her knees. Then she screamed, a wordless cry of pain, a sound built up over nine years. She threw her fist backwards, to the dull sound of fist against the car’s chassis. She struck again. Again. Again. She clutched at loose rocks on the ground, threw them at the abandoned buildings of the ore plant.
