them getting a chance to say goodbye to family and friends in town. When the satellite/cell service came back up later that night, I immediately texted Emma and my mentor, telling them that we were evacuating. Emma responded, among other things, that at least we got a chance to hug, and wished us a safe journey. I realized then that earlier that day had been our last goodbye, and I wouldn’t see her again.
