Sci-fi movies about time travel became popular with the first notable movie adaptation of H.G. Wells' The Time Machine. George Pal’s The Time Machine (1960) was soon followed by the low-budget yet noteworthy take on the time travel storyline, The Flight That Disappeared (1961).
Written by Ralph Hart, Judith Hart, and Owen Harris, The Flight That Disappeared was directed by Reginald LeBorg, who exceled in crime/noir, mystery, and horror genres while also making some good western and comedy titles. The Flight That Disappeared engages the audience as it follows the journey of Trans-Coast Airways Flight 60 from Los Angeles to D.C. with three scientists onboard that are all working on a very important military/defense project.
