Elizabeth Cartwright's live-in nurse, Helen, was the last in attendance.  As she had during Ms. Cartwright's life, Helen made sure her charge's wishes were followed to the letter.  She was more than a mere nurse, really.  Among her many duties, she served as Ms. Cartwright's secretary, housekeeper, advisor, and confidante and was paid well to do it.  Her last duty as Ms. Cartwright's representative was to watch the casket lowered.  She had seen to many of her charge's eccentricities, and she would see this one completed with no mistakes as well.  Discretion, thoroughness, and an exacting eye, was how she retained her position; surviving as a resident of the historic plantation estate.
