Early the next morning, I found myself near Abraham’s tent once more. Abraham was close by, and I followed him until he stopped along the road in the exact same spot where he had last seen the Lord. I watched his expression suddenly change, and I followed his gaze to see what had caused his furrowed brows. Thick black smoke was blanketing the horizon where the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah had once stood. The backdrop was now just a mass of singed grass and a smattering of burning fires, which continued to threaten the sparse amount of vegetation that was left.
