“N. O.” She spelled it, slowly and loudly. Hannah waited for the explosion. He didn’t disappoint.

“I beg your pardon? No? After all I have done for you, you deny me this?” He glowered at her, his voice rising with every question. “How ungrateful you have become. I gave you everything, it is not my fault that you could not reach my expectations.”

“I don’t think belittling me further is going to get me to agree to go with you,” Hannah was amazed at how calm her voice sounded. Inside she could feel her control slipping, but she had worked so hard that she was not going to let him intimidate her.
