The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round, for what feels like an eternity. I don’t even believe it when the clock says it’s only been twenty hours since the bathroom incident. The entire time has been spent with one eye on the broken door, and one on anyone who gives me a strange look. Constantly going back and forth has kept me a fraying ball of nerves. I have to carefully study every face for some hint that they’re onto us. Call me crazy, but our only punishment so far has been a guilty conscience and having to stop at every rest area along the way.
