Ramadans

Hanukkahs

Have passed.

In such darkness

Came courage

Self sacrifice

Strength to the end.

My ancestors

I never knew

Died of starvation, disease

Burned to ash in furnaces.

With their whole lives

Ahead of them

Cut short
