An ordinary Sunday,

more hours in the day to play—

a mother watches her girls,

pretends as they do,

pauses the second hand—

she pens a poem,

one her mind will never lose

after time cheats youth 

and ends their make-believe play—

she’ll yearn to replay 

simple, complex joy one day
