somewhere between
blocks
and I am watching from
between my curtains -
but soon you will cross,
criss cross
wet lawns, un-mowed,
disregard sidewalks,
leap up identical flights of
three stairs at a time
with maybe today
a little something
for me.

You obviously must
have a name
but I don’t know it;
you obviously must
have plans
for dinner,
a bill you need
to remember to pay,
a running grocery list,
fleeting thoughts of
inadequacy,
moments when
you want
screaming silence -
