across the screen
silver walked, leaped
over black silences
in that exact time of night
between sleep and dreams

for everyone but you
and me
we see things
similarly,
both looking through lenses

capturing moments in
single frames to preserve
the unspeakable moment
both looking upwards
to see within

and though our mothers
would never make
that leap our
small steps could
there is comfort in knowing

someone is out there
across the static night
someone is recording these
shadows and lights while
they are still fleeting
