toasted and roasted, the night 
is upon us
what truths will you scatter across
campfire embers?

the rain had been teasing you 
this afternoon
the sky bared for you her chest,
grey and cool

the sun, bleak with wanting
collapsed down into
mountain ranges spread out across
the horizon

as you spread yourself out across 
your longing
to be known, to be heard, to be 
the source of your own

eventual fandom

celestial bodies have all
begun dreaming
and you say you wish to join 
them, too

but even in your dreams, you 
still follow
waiting for others to say the words 
...
