Anger seized my heart,
Rage burned my vision.
I thought about leaving you behind,
But blood ties aren’t easily broken.

I counted every wrong,
Recalled when you took me for granted,
And hated the space you took in my life,
But God doesn’t choose by mistake.

He must have a reason,
Otherwise, what’s the point?
Why are we in each other’s lives at all?

As angry as I am,
As much as I curse the ground you walk,
I forgive you.

Not because you weren’t wrong,
But because there is no right.
Here or anywhere.

All we can do is accept the ties we didn’t choose.
Toxic or not, the best we can do is set our boundaries.
