don’t mistake this quiet for peace

this is only the silence of stalemate

     the stasis of apathy

          the paralysis of brain-death

                the inhaled breath before the scream

meanwhile…

all riot on the Eastern front

the battle of South Jersey rages on

we take action amid the unquiet desperation

     wartime is all the time
