No worries, our parents

   were too wrapped up in their own bullshit

      to give a fuck.

It’s all good, we had to fend for ourselves.

Latch key? That’s me.

Both parents slaving, fixing my own dinner.

You need grit? We got it to spare.

We’ve been keeping our heads down,

   soldiering through this battlefield,

      our bodies left out for the scavengers.
