so much of our history was wasted

on trying to get the universe to fucking care

     we held aloft blades before making sacrifices

     we sent countless desperate silent prayers upward

     we shouted and screamed at blank-eyed lights in the sky

but if we are made of star-stuff

the universe has already shown us it cares

because we are fucking here

     stop wasting blood and fear on whether we matter in the grand scheme

     because when did a scheme ever turn out well?

just impress the cosmos by being human to your fellow piles of cosmic dust
