the unruly mob of memory

grows restless with the years

     from a small gathering of children

     to a close group of friends

          then a restless crowd of protestors

          to a seething surge of agitators

                revolting against it all

                their riot drowns out the unnecessary

           until the brain-box noise batters down concentration

      nostalgia’s granaries are emptied

 and the present is left to sor...
