just over a dozen years under my belt

out on dark suburban sidewalks

dancing under piss-colored streetlights

heart slamming, a premonition of mortality

gulping winter air, releasing it in white clouds

head thrown back, eyes on cold stars

laughing at the enormity and absurdity of everything
